Changed spec results in new cyclone prototype

When another of our major customers changed the specification of the cyclones they were using, they immediately asked us if we could produce a stainless steel prototype for testing and approval.

The unit was extremely small – with a cone tapering from 140mm – 37mm diameter over its 500mm length – and because the stainless steel actually work hardened during manufacture, we had to anneal the material half way through the process to ensure we could achieve the necessary tolerances. In addition, we had to devise a suitable welding schedule that kept the heat distortion to a minimum – just two more examples of how our depth of specialist knowledge is invaluable where challenging specifications are concerned.
